Inspiration: The Hermès Website

hermes-logo-2.jpg

If you have been a reader of this blog long enough, you know what a huge fan of  Hermès  I am, so it should come as no surprise to hear that I am constantly inspired by their  website.  If you click through to "Les  Ailes  Hermes" you will see what I mean:

This  area of the site is like diving into the full  Hermès experience.  There are fun videos featuring their products, videos showing the inimitable craftsmen of Hermès  doing their thing, galleries of images of  their products and more.  There are even wallpapers and screensavers for you to download!

What do I ultimately take away from my visits to the website (besides the overwhelming desire to visit the new Hermes store in Cherry Creek here in  Denver)? I always find inspiration in the color combinations in their famous  scarves, the patterns and motifs on their china, and I even come away with ideas for architectural details from watching the videos that feature the flagship store on the Rue Faubourg St. Honoré!

I am also an Hermes fan, and love the website. I was privileged to be on their PR team here in the States for five years near the start of my career. I'm a luxury goods Brand Strategist today, and credit much of my success to watching and listening closely in those days to the incomparable master of luxury, Jean Louis Dumas, who headed the House in the 80s, 90s and up until a couple of years ago. His humor, his little sketches and observations, and his depth of thought into the deeply personal aspects of how people interact with Hermes products honored the storied paast of the brand, but importantly, created the brand experience that we know today as Hermes. I cannot pass an Hermes store in any city in the world I visit and not step into that world. The website is a nice journey, too. Thanks for highlighting it.
